The Game

Hero Rumble is a 2D platformer brawler where players fight other players as well as a powerful boss in each level.

​

In this multiplayer, PvPvE game, up to 3 players take control of 1 warrior from a cast of 7 unique characters and engage in an all out battle for ultimate supremacy in up to 5 different worlds.

​

In the world of Hero Rumble, different characters from arcade games meet up in a central game to battle for ultimate supremacy.

Game Designer

- Focused on mechanics design and level design.

     - Conceptualized aesthetics of different environments to house unique bosses.

     - Designed level gimmicks and mechanics.​

 

- Worked on creating unique characters and move-sets.

     - Balanced characters to feel different from one another mechanically.

     - Based on particular traits, such as "Slow but sturdy" or "Melee focused".

Producer

- Wrote and maintained Level Design Document.

 

- Maintained weekly schedule for the team.

 

- Scheduled weekly meetings for the team.

 

- Used Scrum to track work progress. ​

 

- Collected and compiled weekly reports from all team members. ​

Narrative Designer

- Wrote the overall setting for the game

 

- Broke down the characters into their inspiration games and gave appropriate backstories.

     - Character inspirations range from fighting games to sports games. ​

 

- Designed character personalities and backstories.

     - Created unique character stories to fit the game setting.

     - Linked character stories together to fit within the same world.

     - Grouped characters into sub-groups and expanded on their motivations.

 

- Designed worlds for bosses.

     - Included back stories for the bosses.

     - Tied in narrative into the loading screens and level descriptions. ​

Artist

​

- Worked primarily in Photoshop.

     - Created 2D sprites

     - Created 2D sprite sheets.

​

- Created wire-frames for some UI

     - Includes Character Select and stage Select.

​

- Designed flow of the game

​

- Designed in-game help panels and information.

     - Included lists for each character's attacks.

     - Includes both keyboard and controller controls.

​

- Created loading screen using art assets by Danial.

​

- Worked extensively on the art and animations of 1 character, Vonne.

     - Character was based off of a giant mech.

     - Character is designed to both walk slowly and hover quickly.

     - Character was built in parts and placed into sprite sheets.

     - Animated in Unity.
